The Run to Live Scott Cannata, a native of Durham Region, has completed his marathons across Canada to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.  Scott's heartwarming story and incredible journey is highlighted on The Run to Live website and there were daily updates on The Run to Live page on Facebook.  Scott received his inspiration for his journey from his family and Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope.  He has been given great support by several sponsors and hopes to continue to raise funds for cancer research.  You and your TRTL team are truly amazing beyond words Scott!  Safe drive back to Ontario!  Read the Full Story

The Run to Live Celebration

logoScott Cannata and The Run to Live Team will be honoured at a celebration at C.E.Broughton Public School in Whitby, Ontario on Wednesday, February 1st.  The celebration begins at 6 p.m. with more formal presentations beginning around 6:45 p.m.  You are welcome to join in the celebration for this inspiring young man, the TRTL team and his many supporters.  For more information and directions visit the C.E. Scott Cannata - Marathon Man

WAHOO!  Scott Cannata and The Run to Live team have overcome many hardships and challenges and made it to Port Renfrew, British Columbia on Monday, January 16 - 202 Marathons completed!  We are delighted to have contributed $267.25 from our Red, White and Black Toonie Day and the purchasing of special backpacks. (Backpacks still available from Mrs. Richardson in the library - great for knitting or gym clothes!)  All funds were donated through The Run to Live website, for the Canadian Cancer Society.  What a great show of Optimism that you believed you and your team could make it happen!  Many thanks to all his supporters from coast to coast.  What an inspiration to DREAM BIG and change lives for the better!

 
French Immersion Information

The Durham District School Board provides French Immersion instruction to students, beginning in Grade One.  The information night on Wednesday, February 1st at all French Immersion schools will provide an opportunity for parents to discover what is offered by our school board.  Please see the attachments for more information.

Knifty Knitter News
knifty_knitter_donations_400_150The Knifty Knitters Club members have been learning and practising their knitting skills and creating items with donated yarn.  These students from Grades 5 to 8, along with staff member support, made 79 hats, scarves and mittens over the past months showing commitment to community.  These items were donated to charities in the Bancroft area, where they were received with great enthusiasm and thanks.  Knifty Knitters Club will be open to new members in early January for students in Grades 4 to 8.
